On the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

there's been a lot of talk flying about because of the new bands up for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. i'm a high school kid. i wasn't around when rock first started or the Hall was first built. but a lot of people seem to be whining that there are no real rock artists in the Hall. so i sat down and looked through every person who's ever been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. while doing so i came up with this nice little list of what everyone would call "rock and roll" artists;

The Doors
Alice Cooper
Black Sabbath
The Kinks
Led Zeppelin
Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Ramones
The Sex Pistols
Bruce Springsteen
The Police
The Stooges
Van Halen
The Velvet Underground
Elvis Presley
The Who
ZZ Top

well, well. look at that. yes, there are SOME pop artists like Madonnna. but you know what other artists are in there? blues, jazz, the music that laid the foundation for what we know as rock and roll today. artists that without we wouldn't have had Elvis or Led Zeppelin or Metallica. yes, i get that there are other rock bands that are amazing. i get that you want to see K.I.S.S. in the Hall. or that you think Rush is a much better band than all the others. but its not up to you. only a small group of people get to vote and they vote for the artist they think is the best. i think you all are just whining to whine. there are plenty of rock artists in the Hall and artists that influenced rock music. this years bunch of nominees isn't bad either. we have The Beastie Boys, The Cure, and Guns N' Roses. and there are still more that people would call "rock". the Hall is doing its job, there are plenty of rock artists. so quit your whining!

  1. I agree 100%. People need to understand that not everybody's favourite bands can get in. They will, in time, so they should shut the fuck up. Also, "Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame" doesn't mean it's only rock musicians who get in there, it's just a cool name. Pop artists and rap musicians have every right to be in there. When will the rock and metal boneheads finally understand that rock music isn't the only music in the world?
