A Festival for Metallica?

the idea of Metallica having its own festival sounds great to all their fans. that is until they hear who all is playing; Arctic Monkeys, Modest Mouse, Hot Snakes, Liturgy. who the fuck are these people? there is one solo metalish band on the list, Avenged Sevenfold. i don't hate Avenged Sevenfold, but unless there are other great artists playing the same show as them, i won't buy a ticket.all the other bands are hippster bands....so i won't even think about goin. when i heard the news that Metallica wanted to have a music festival i figured they'd ask people like, i don't know, Slayer or AC/DC to play, not The Gaslight Anthem. i guess Metallica is trying to reach a wider group of people...but now their excluding the people that got them famous to begin with. yes, they will make the money they want and probably be a pretty big success. but will the Metallica fans hate them, oh hells yes. sorry boys, but that shows gonna suck ass. next time why don't you call on your pals in Megadeth instead of the college kids' bands.

SONG OF THE DAY: Down by Blink 182

i love this song. it has a great vibe. while i cant figure out what the hell the song is about, the video is nicely done. what i probably like the most is that they have the dad from Everybody Hates Chris playing the cop. its nice to see him playing an angry man with a purpose. Blink has a way of making even a slow, saddish song like this fun to sing along to with its hook line "down, down, down *fade out*" a great song for kind of a sleepy day like today. go check it out. leave a comment telling me what you think. SONG OF THE DAY: BAND OF THE DAY- The Red Hot Chili Peppers

so i woke up this morining to snow falling EVERYWHERE! what i wanted (in music) was something warm and summerish. and that is why todays song of the day became a band of the day. i picked the Red Hot Chili Peppers becuz they have a sound that makes you think of summer music festivals in the 60's. people dancing around in a huge green medow just enjoying life. their songs are fun and up beat, but at the same time there are messages hidden behind the fast drums and amazing vocals. a really great rock band and prefect for a snowy day like today. if you've never heard any of their music before well then i got this to say....WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN, BUDDY?! really, i mean it. you should go check them out. i recommend their album "Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik" its the prefect album to show all the diffenernt ranges of the Chili Peppers. i give the Red Hot Chili Peppers a 5 out of 5. go check out some of their songs and let me know what you thought of the Peppers

Belladonna Rosethorn) Is there any standers we can expect from one of your live shows, either solo or with your band?

Gerardo Meza) Yeah…Well with the band, that band is geared towards uh, a show. We try to turn it into a real show. I mean like the bass player plays a big stand up bass were he stands on the bass sometimes, twirls it around. So the show, we had a bass one time that had strobe lights on it and he would turn the lights on after the show, for like the last encore, you know. And we’d tell the sound guy to dim the lights and it was pretty dramatic. But, you know, just the fact that we put on a show, we dress a certain way, we um, hold ourselves a certain way. We interact with each other on stage. We have a lot of fun actually. The energy level is really high. So people, um, we don’t play any slow songs. Very energetic, very punk rock, very you know, but it’s not punk rock. It’s more like the original punk rock, you know. Some rhythm and blues, rock and roll. It’s got you going and makes you move. So you never have anyone sitting still at our shows. People want to get up and dance, you know. That’s that side of me. That’s what you can expect from the Mezacal Brothers. And by myself it’s mostly just, I don’t have any really fast songs at all. The solo stuff is little more gothic kinda type. It’s got a real dark side to it. I write a lot of murder ballads. So you kinda sit and listen to it. To the lyrics. And most times, in fact every time I do a solo show, people are listing. Which makes me more nervous, cause I’m making sure I don’t mess up the words. With that sort of show it’s more laid back. You can do a show at a club, but they have to know that’s what that is. An acoustic show. So that they come in and respect that. The coffee place, that’s even better because that’s what they already expect to do, that’s what they’re there for. Yeah, there are two different things, whole different things. I need both of them, you know, to kinda survive in music. I really need that outlet, with the other band to get that out. The solo stuff, I also need to get that out. It’s a balance.

BR) What was the first band or singer you saw live and what was it like?

GM) I was a kid, about your age maybe younger. There were bands that used to play down the street from Lincoln High at this place called the Brick Yard and it was kinda an old building. Um, nobody was having shows for kids, so me and some of my buddies used to go down there and check out the bands. Mostly just local bands, a lot of local bands. A bunch of rock bands, you gotta remember this was like 1980. Lincoln had a really good local scene at the time. And so these kids were playing in these bands with nowhere to really play, so it was just like, kinda like a warehouse, but like a store front, that they would rent and kids would go out to shows at that. It was, it was really cool. Well, I went by myself and I felt kinda, and I met a lot of people when I went. It was just like networking. You know your like into the same music so you run into people with the same tastes. You see somebody from high school and you’d never talked to and you go “oh you were at the show” and you kinda start building friendships that way. I got to see how bands, um, being able to see a band on stage, looking at their guitars, looking at their amps. Seeing how people set things up. That venue was really small, so you’d be up front and you’d see people’s reactions. Like I remember seeing the Cars in 82-83? I mean I went to big concerts after that. I mean I went to see a lot of bands, but it’s never the same as going to a club or a small venue. It’s not the same vibe. But as for specific artists, no. As far as charisma on stage, I I don’t remember anyone in particular who stuck out. It was always, I saw Kurt Cobain, Nirvana live. That at the time was right before they hit it big with their breakout album Never mind. And before that it was Bleach. They were touring for that album. They were playing a lot of that on college radios, and so we just went cause, I showed up by myself. I went there to meet some friends. They went to check out this band. Cause I remember, hearing this song on the radio and I liked it so I went and then a year later they were the biggest thing in the world. So, and you know, they always say you should have paid more attention to em, you should of been uh, taking advantage of the time, but you didn’t think of it then. They were just another band coming through. You know, they were from Seattle which wasn’t uncommon. And I liked their music. But uh, I never expected it to get as big as it got. And when you think about it now, I saw those guys. For six dollars. Yeah, so I can’t think of any one person. I’m trying to think if there was anyone I really, at that age especially, that made me think of doing it myself. You never saw yourself on stage, but you went there often enough, eventually you were offered to play. And once you got on the stage, then it’s basically done. It’s a done deal, you’re on. You really want to do this, for real. So eventually, you know, you’re actually doing it, playing for people. We mostly played locally. At that time we didn’t think of touring much. I mean, we were all kinda in school. But we always had gigs. So we got a good reputation. Eventually, you’d see them all over the TV and such. Even if you follow them, they start getting more, the tickets start getting more expensive and you stop following them after that because they’ve become so popular. And you don’t like their stuff anymore, not that they’re not good, it’s just you like their older stuff better. It’s just memoirs of listing to it and you don’t want that to change so you basically stop following them. But it’s fun to have been around that long, to say that you were at certain shows. (Laughs) Able to remember the whole bands, people your age can relate to that. Hearing them live is the only way to listen to music, in my book. If you’re going to see a band or performer, if they have a great show to offer than your best thing to do is go see it live. But it’s not like big shows. Not only cause they cost more, but you’re also like a hundred yards away and you can’t connect with them. I went to Elvis Costello this past summer, I tried to get up as close as I could, but well, after awhile it becomes like, he doesn’t look at anybody. He’s just playing music. Seeing him live, is, you can say you did, but it didn’t change anything, take away or add anything to how I feel about his music. When you have a venue that’s really intimate and they actually look at you and talk to you. But that’s just a spiel. I don’t know if that really answered your question. In other words, I could not remember who it was I first saw live.

BR) So, what’s your favorite instrument to play?

GM) Uuuh…I don’t know. I play a lot of different things. Never really gotten good at anything other than maybe guitar. Even that I could have gotten better at. The most fun to play, I would say is. I don’t know. I kinda like playing harmonica. I play the ukulele sometimes. The guitar has always been fun. It’s it’s a tool for writing music. It’s the best tool to use. And some people write on pianos. I wish I could play piano. I have a piano, I don’t play it. I just mess around with it. But I’d love to learn how to do it. You know, well enough to know what I’m doing. (Laughs) But guitar, I guess. The fun instrument? Ukulele is always fun. The guitar is, uh, has more potential. You take the time to learn certain things and it can be fun to play, when you’re writing songs. I guess, I started messing around with the kazoo just to add to some of the songs. That’s just basically what it is. The guitar, I guess.

BR) Have you ever had to deal with a crazy fan?

GM) You mean, besides the ones that go on stage and take their cloths off? I I’ve had that.

BR) (Laughs) Yeah. One’s like that.

GM) Okay. Well that’s happened. Crazy, crazy like in a weird…

BR) Stalker.

GM) Dangerous kinda way? Yeah, I had a girl in Chicago who was like a, she was apparently had convinced herself that I was her husband or next husband. She wanted to marry me or something. But I had no idea who she was and she would come to my shows in Chicago and various new people in the groups that would come out to see us would, she wore like really cool vintage clothes and she kinda reminded me of a, she had glasses. She looked like this really cool nerdy girl. Like the librarian type. But it was kinda, she was kinda. She would talk to me so I’d talk to her. Anyone who is friendly to me, I’m friendly to them so. She misread that. She really started believing that I was interested in her. Which I wasn’t. I was just being a nice person. And so she kept telling people and her friends would go “oh yeah, so and so is waiting for you outside” “waiting for me? what do you mean?” “you need to get a hold of her. She gave me the number to give to you.” “what are you talking about?” she didn’t get a chance to see you and all this stuff. And she’d send me emails and I don’t know how she got a hold of my email, but. Someone would give it to them because they thought oh it’s just an innocent fan trying to get a hold of me. But it was like total stalking. I almost ignored it. Tried to avoid it when I get to Chicago. I’d look around and make sure I didn’t see her. It was almost like I just had to not talk to her in order for her to stop hounding me. Imagining there was more going on. Other than that, it wasn’t really dangerous, just kinda uncomfortable. Some start believing that because you’re friendly with them, that you actually have something going on. And it’s impossible. It’s impossible to have a relationship on the road. You’re not there long enough anyway. (Laughs) In most places. But if you keep coming back, I’ve got lot of friends all over the country. Because we go back, the fans come out, the same people. So you remember so and so from, sometimes you don’t remember what town it is till you get there. And then you’re like oh that’s where I know that person from. But you know, they’re just people. Every where’s the same. They look different but they have the same, uh, dynamics. Especially if you’re there long enough and they get to know you. Some invite you to their home to eat. They just wanna hang out, you know. It’s not like they’re all star struck. They know how real we are so, they’re just, they’re just friendly. Which is fun, you know.

BR) Is there any musician you would die to play with?

GM) To play with them? A legendary person would be fun. I got to play with, uh, Rhonda Jackson. Got to play with, trying to think of all the places we were at and the people there. Um. Like at festivals we played at. I got to play with these people but I didn’t really, it was like I was in a situation were it just happened. But it’s really not, you don’t uh, there’s gotta be something you get out of it other than the fact that it’s someone you respect and you get to play with them. They’re fine playing on their own. You don’t need to be there. Playing with them and being on stage, playing their music with them or just playing part of their show with them, opening up for people. That’s always fun. Cause you just do your show and you’re hoping their back there watching you. You want to show them what you can do. Then you’re there for the rest of the show to watch them. If you’re playing with someone, like if someone said “come up and do a song with us”, that sorta thing. The genre I really enjoy, as far as what my band plays, there are a lot of heavy hitter out there that are well known in that genre. Like any other music, you know. But like if you were talking in general. The only person I’d wanna be with, as far as playing with would be like any major artist that everyone knows, I would love to play with. It depends on what role I would play, you know what I mean? Would I just be playing guitar? In the background? Which would be fun but. I don’t know. I mean, most the people I’d like to play with are dead. As far as modern stuff, I don’t know. It would be weird, you know.

BR) What kinds of things go on backstage at one of your shows?

GM) Um. Joking around, just joking around to lighten up the mood. Everybody gets dressed and the green rooms we have usually have dressing rooms. Areas were we can get dressed, get ready. There’s usually TV in there, refreshments. We can sit around and talk to people. What we really need to do is relax, you know. You kinda have to get in the mood for it. Have to concentrate on getting ready in your head. For me it’s mostly remembering all the lyrics. And kinda saving my voice, too. It’s like any other event, like a sporting event, they get psyched up. I’m not saying you’re back there shadow boxing or anything. But in a way you are. Making sure you have the songs in your head. You think too much about it they go away, or if you think too hard they don’t come out. So you gotta be trusting that it will happen when you’re up there. Before shows, it’s mostly just talking about the next show or this show. Just joking with the band. For a lot of us, for me it’s if you have a few hours at the hotel before you go there, you have to take advantage of relaxing. I always liked playing with a bunch of people, it’s better to do it in the middle so you don’t have to wait till the last. We either sit around or watch TV. It’s real glamorous. (Laughs)

BR) So, speaking of which. Do you have any diva like requests that have to be filled before you will play a gig?

GM) Oh. You mean like my Writer? They call it a Writer. Like the famous ones are like gotta have a big bowl of green MM’s. Our bass player always jokes about how he wanted a football helmet full of Jell-O. Just like, he wouldn’t be serious. But stuff like that. But, yeah, we never have anything except for anything that’s free. Anything you wanna give us for free is good. But we don’t have any strange requests.

BR) Do you have CD’s or Demo’s fans can buy and where can we find these?

GM) Usually online you can find them. We have a record distributor in Finland called, Jungle Records. I think if you looked that site you’d all four of them. I think their the European versions. They have some extra tracks on them. Then there’s another one in the U.S. called Spin Out. And that’s owned by Eddie Angel of, the guy for the Straight Jackets. And he’s a good friend of ours. That’s pretty much the two distributors. We don’t carry a lot with us on the road. We run out quick.

SONG OF THE DAY: Lonely Day by System of a Down

this is probably my favorite System of a Down song. its a slow sad song that you can sing along to on a slow, sad kinda day. what i really like about this song is that we get a change of major vocals (by that i mean the guy who's doing all the singing). for this song we get to hear Daron Malakian, or as i like to call him "the lil' guy". his style is very different from the well trained Serj Tankian. Daron's is slightly higher and sleepier in a way. the soft sounds of the instruments mixed with Daron's vocals setup a sound that feels like a dream. while calming, the eeriness of it all is a little unnerving. almost like deja vu. all in all, a very good song for days when we don't wanna get out of bed or just feeling alone. i give it a 5 out of 5.

On Manson's new song "Born Villain"

by now im sure you know how i feel about all of Mr. Manson's latest shit. thats just what it is. SHIT!!!! the latest single from the aging bastard is titled "Born Villain" the name its self is stupid as fuck. that sounds like the title for an anti-hero comic about the villain. its basicaly not all that creative. the song its self sound like a dubstep verion of a popular rock song, not a Marilyn Manson song. while i do realize that Manson doesn't really call his music "metal" that doesn't mean its not. just like when Sean of London After Midnight said his band wasn't goth, it didn't stop millions of goth kids from loving them. Manson started out as a metal band and will always be seen as one becuase thats the kind of music he's been making up till Eat Me, Drink Me. and that in there lays our issue. you can't play only metal music for a little over 18 years and then suddenly play shitty techno music. it just doesn't work. this is the kind of behavior that makes people call you a sellout. i get it. you're bored with music. you want to do more movies and paintings. thats cool. but please, please don't make an album just to make an album. put some time into it. some real feelings. dig up one of your old notebooks and read so of the pages and get some ideas from that old anger that made fans like me love you. please take my advice and just take a break from music for a lil while. we'll live if you don't put out another album right away....trust me. we dont need the dissapointment it brings. i really won't be looking forward to the concert to support this album. and that's all i really have to say about that.

On Gym Class Heros

i just learned of the fact that starting this fall the Gym Class Heros will be taking off on an American tour. but it won't just be the Heros, The Dirty Heads, the new stoner rock band will be the warm up act for the Heros tour. i for one will be hoping to come into some tickets (preferably free ones) for the Kansas City, MO date. i've loved the Gym Class Heros since their song "Cupid's Chokehold. the song was funny and upbeat with a cute music video. but i loved the music video for the remake of the song with ex-lead singer of the band Fall Out Boy, Patrick Stump. their latest "Stereo heart" is also a great song. i also love The Dirty Heads. i look forward to this concert.

On Still Remains' Cover of "Head like a hole"

to me, covers are a great way to honor the musicians that inspired you. i also believe that sometimes there are just some songs we shouldn't redo. this isn't one of those cases. no, this is a case of doing it just like the original artist. the instrumental part is great. it's loud and fits the Still Remains' style of music. but as for the vocals, they are just like Trent's! and that's what makes this a bad cover. Still Remains has a very heavy sound and the vocalist is known for SCREAMING the lyrics, not singing like Trent Reznor. the vocals and the instrumental completely clash in this cover. when you do a cover you don't just sing it like them. you don't play the song like they did. that's boarding. you make the song your own. you take it and turn it into something that sounds like you wrote it. i don't want to be able to tell right off the bat that its someone else's song. unfortunately, they didn't get the memo and made a shitty cover. that's way i have to give this song a 2 out of 5. great instrumentals, but try to make the vocals your own next time.

On the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

there's been a lot of talk flying about because of the new bands up for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. i'm a high school kid. i wasn't around when rock first started or the Hall was first built. but a lot of people seem to be whining that there are no real rock artists in the Hall. so i sat down and looked through every person who's ever been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. while doing so i came up with this nice little list of what everyone would call "rock and roll" artists;

well, well. look at that. yes, there are SOME pop artists like Madonnna. but you know what other artists are in there? blues, jazz, the music that laid the foundation for what we know as rock and roll today. artists that without we wouldn't have had Elvis or Led Zeppelin or Metallica. yes, i get that there are other rock bands that are amazing. i get that you want to see K.I.S.S. in the Hall. or that you think Rush is a much better band than all the others. but its not up to you. only a small group of people get to vote and they vote for the artist they think is the best. i think you all are just whining to whine. there are plenty of rock artists in the Hall and artists that influenced rock music. this years bunch of nominees isn't bad either. we have The Beastie Boys, The Cure, and Guns N' Roses. and there are still more that people would call "rock". the Hall is doing its job, there are plenty of rock artists. so quit your whining!

Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks"

i love the old folk-y sound these guys have. yes, they are technically a "hippers band", but still. their sound is fun, up beat, and great to dance to. the music video starts out with them touring a bunch of little local places and messing around. it reminds me a lot of the Beatles "Hard Days Night" video. the song its self starts out slow but grows when it hits the course. behind the happy sound is a pretty dark sounding message. its like the "Semi-charmed Life" of 2011. the message is of someone with an abusive father and one day they decide to kill him, along with a few other people to slow to get away from the bullets. its like the happier take on "Jannie's got a gun". but its okay, because the only part anyone truly knows is the course,
"all the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, outrun my gun, all the other kids with the pumped up kicks, you'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet." all in all, a great song,with a very scary message for such a happy song. fun music video and cool sound. 5 out of 5 for the song. and 4 out of 5 for the video. would have been cooler to see the character in the song shooting up everything.

Alice in Chain's "Your Decision"

this is a great music video. while i can't really figure out just what they're trying to tell me, the visual is every interesting. through out the whole video there's one girl that we keep chasing. she passes by all of these rooms where people are doing strange sex acts and the boys from AIC are watching. in the end we finally catch the girl only to have her tie us up and kill us. but that is only assumed as she ends the video by eating a what looks to be a human brain. the song its self i love. it has the same Alice In Chains vibe that i've always loved since first hearing "Man in the Box". while we are missing singer Layne Staley and bassist Mike Starr, the new members are still keeping the sound of AIC going strong. i give the song a 5 out of 5 and the video a 4 out of 5. i would like the video to explain a little more of the song than it does, but its still a good video to watch.

Manson is losing touch

The way i see things with Mr. Manson nowadays, he losing touch with the dark, angry little boy that lives inside of him. yes, he's still wearing the make-up, the ten feet tall boots, and leather pants, but he's not acting, talking, or singing the same as he used to. what happened to the dark man who used to give parnets nightmares? what happened to the super freak who used to cage chickens and women?! the dark is gone, the edge is gone, the horror show has been closed for good. i suppose we should have seen this when the album "Eat Me, Drink Me" dropped. but every musician has one album that isn't so great, right? and they come back with something better right? i guess, in Manson's case there's no bouncing back....he just keeps going down hill. today i watched the video for his latest song "Running to the Edge of the World" and it reminds me a little of the Bruno Mars video for "The Lazy Song". he's sitting right in front of the camra as he sings. it looks like something a teenage boy would do as a remake of a real music video. hey! hey, Brain! we're up here! quiet reading the lyrics sheet and look at us. how many times is he going to look down. something has happened to my madman. the first strick had to be him dropping the Marilyn part of his name. then came "Eat Me, Drink Me" with songs like "If i was your vampire", "Heart-shapped Glasses", and "Are you the rabbit?" that are so toned down that you don't even know you're listing to a Manson song.

when i first heard "Heart-shapped Glasses" i didn't realize it was Manson singing. it just doesn't sound like him. and his image...he just doesn't look like the man i've pretty much worshipped since like 8th grade. he's removed the peircings, cut the hair, put a shirt on and covered his tattoos. he wears nothing but suits and ties now. he looks like an ex-member of My Chemical Romance. like a nicely dressed little emo kid. not that theres somthing wronge with emos, but thats not Manson! i want the blood back, the peircings, the tattoos, the wild hair and make up, the clearly handmade outfits, the costumes that make little kids cry. also, his acts of violence in his videos no longer have a true meaning behind them. its more like he just felt like hitting someone, or cutting something and did so. theres no point. its just stupid, hatefull violence. so, what do i have to say to Mr. Manson? get back to what made you famous, not this shit thats creating wannabee goth kids.

on Born Villain

i first learned of this video thru twitter and new i had to look more into it. the short film was directed by actor Shia LaBeouf. the video is quoted to be a "trailer" for Marilyn Manson's eighth stuido album. before having seen the video i believed it would be more like any other "behind the scenes" type vidoe.....i was sooo wrong. this is one of those typical artsy films. its like "A Choirs Line" meets "Saw". weird, demented scenes of Manson cutting up people, stiching em back up and strange close ups of unknown scenes. then there are these two minuet clips where Manson says something that should be profound, but when spoken just sounds like the ramblings of a mad man. all in all, this is a very weird (in a bad way)artsy film that boared the living hell out of me. i love you and all Mr. Manson, but that film sucked balls. i give it a 1 out of 5. check out the film at bornvillain.com

on the new Forever the Sickest Kids single "Crossroads"

this is a great new song by FTSK. "Crossroads (i guess you can say things are getting pretty serious)" starts out strong with plently of guitar and bass flooding your ears. it winds its way in to the first line, "you and me against the wall," the sound is very poppy with a darker edge to it. the song is about a break up that it seems neither really wants, but they know is coming. very sad and yet still pretty romantice. if you've never heard of Forever the Sickest Kids then you need to go into your bathroom and stick your head in your toilet and smack it with the lid repetly. no, really, i mean it. this is a great alternative band. anyone who likes Hawthorne Heights or All Time Low will love Forever the Sickest Kids. you need to check out thier new song. in fact, i demand you do so now! foreverthesickestkids.com, check it out. i give the song a 5 out of 5.

welcome, and let me start by saying....WHAT THE FUCKING HELL?!!!!!!! now that i've said that, let me explain. while skimming through Blood on the dance floor songs i came across this song titled "Believe". i love BOTDF. i haven't found a song i didn't like....that is till now!!! these guys are all about sex, drugs, clubbing, sex, girls, sex, code words for sex, and sex. they're loud, crud, and sometimes scary. even one of their more tamer songs, "Death to your heart" is still angry and creepy. but this song.... this song is some kind of weird Owl City type song....not that Owl City is a bad band. i love "Fireflies". but still. this is not the kind of song for a group all about sex. i mean really! what was going on in your fluffy little heads, Davey and Garrett? this song seriously creeps me the fuck out. and normally it takes a clown to creep me out. to explain my fear, here are some of the lyrics from "Candyland" which is on the same album as "Believe" -

so we all get that i love music, right? good. well i hate MTV. i hate Music TV...... yes sounds weird when you really think about it huh? not really seein as MTV USED to play music all day long. really. nothing but music videos and shows about the musicians. and nowadays they have Jersey Shore.....enough said. one day out of the year they decide that they want to pretend as though they really care about music. even though all they do all year is play shitty reality shows. MTV shouldn't even be called MTV anymore as there is no music playing on the channel at any point. even on their other channel, MTV2, there's still no music. just more shitty shows that no one even watches. most people just sit around making fun of the stupid people on these shows. but of course that's just my point of view. tell me what you think in the comments below.

On The Black Veil Brides' "The Legacy" music video

lets just jump right in and say....this is a cheesy video. plain and simple. i've seen this a million other times for other metal/emo/goth music videos. you've got all five of the guys standing around a junk yard with cars piled up behind them. then once the music starts, fire shoots out. after having seen both the video for "Pens and Knives" and the video for "Perfect Weapon", i was a little disappointed in this video. i expected a little more of a story like in the others. instead we get the typical rock video that has graced us since the 80's. fire, chains, rain, and finally the rock star melt down are the basics of this video. my suggestion for them is to use their creative minds and come up with a video that hasn't already been done five million times before. do something that really tells the story you're trying to convey.

so before i say anything bout Joe, let me say this i like the Jonas Brothers, but never really thought that any of them had real talent by themselves. boy was i ever wrong! he's like the freakin' Justine Timberlake of the JoBros! this boy has some real talent that he was clearly never able to show with his brothers. the whole time i was beleiving Joe would do nothing after the split. maybe act, maybe go back to school. didn't figure he could make it on his own.
the song is one of those good old songs about a girl breaking your heart and him saying "I wont let you beat me down". i know you've heard one like that before. the music video is interesting too. starting out with him in a dark room and a bunch of scenes of the sky and a dirt road. the only part i cant really figure out is the whole dress hanging on the wall. i mean, what chick really hangs her dress on a random wall? its very dramatic and moves easily. while i personaly dont think his cute, im sure theres some chick out there thinkin that he rocks the Justin Timberlake look. (seriously, he really look like JT only more Jonas-y) theres also a little rap spew in it that really just ties this whole thing together. so its safe to assume that i'll be buying his album when it comes out. i give the song a 4 out of 5. (yes! im doing the rating thing again!) 4 cuz im not too huge on songs like this, but he makes it work.

so i just found this vid from 2010 and i gotta say, someday ppl are going to look back at the year 2010 and say WHAT...THE...FUUUUUCCKKKKK!!!!!!?? that was the year of the shity Youtube "stars". the song is about a pair of jeans this kid, yes she's like ten years old, tried on once at the mall and how she saw them on the TV and on ppl like Hannana and True Jackson. if its something Hannana wore, then you shouldn't want to wear them. this was something her mother probaly filmed for her becuz she begged her to. all of the extras are probaly girls from her school that thought it would be cool to be on youtube. and Baby Triggy still looks like a baby. he's probaly the only one between the two that has any real talent. and the bed scene where she's half under the covers bouncing, just looks beyond creepy. it gets the pedo bear seal of aproval and nothing else. your ten and you can't sing, dont post creepy videos about jeans that you once tried on and now "famous" ppl are wearing.

so we've all heard the song "Friday" by the squicky voiced ten year old, right? well now she has a new song called "My Moment".....i really want to know what goes thru the heads of the ppl who produce her songs and videos. i mean who really sits around and thinks, "Wow! this is a great song! ppl are gonna love it!" !NO! come on now! her singing only improved by like 1/59th of what it was in "Friday". and the video? it was the same as any tween/teen pop stars video. there was the make-up set, riding in a limo with ppl or "Fans" chasing her down, there was the premire, and a some random dance scene that made me feel like i was watching the tryouts for High School Musical. the song was also 75% "This is my moment, my moment. this is my moment" bleh. songs about how their all gonna see how big you made it are LAME! if you have to write a song about how you made it big and they show feel sorry for being mean to you, then you really havent made it that big. they should see your face on the TV, in magazines, and hear ppl talking about going to your show in order to know that you've made it big. look, you don't have even one CD out yet and you already think your the shit?! really? i dont think so. the only time i hear your name is when someone says that its friday and everyone complains about now haven the song in their head. and their not happy about it. your a joke. even little kids think so. i much rather lisen to Miley Cyrce before i lisen to you. really, thats how bad it is. becuz anyone who knows me well enough (even just reading my blog would tell ya this) I FUCKIN HATE MILEY! so my advice to you, Rebecca, is get a new job, becuz the one you have now is just proving that your a whinny rich girl who got her parents to pay millions of ppl to dance like your puppets and make you seem famous. this is proving no one wrong about you.

yes, i know. im goin on a totally Foo rapage, but still this is my blog and if all i want to do is talk about the Foo Fighters all day, i will. (no i wont) still. here's another great song from the Foo. at times, a little over played on the Blaze, but still a great song if you havent heard it 15 million times that week all ready. the video starts out with a nice close up of my boy, Dave. still loving his beard. he's like eating the mic! its a lil weird, but likable. the best part is its one of those old mics. slowly we move out only a little. this is another one of those great break up songs. where you're mad at them but not some much so that you just wanna say fuck you to them. you hope they have a nice life, but you never ever in a million billion years wanna see their fucking face around you're part of the world ever again. cuz if you do, some shits going down. meaning your fit meets their face. but i have to say the zooming kind of bugs me; in, out, in, out. choice already! finally we come out on all the guys dressed in black on some kind of stage in the middle of nowhere. flashing images flicker in between shots of the guys. a lil girl in a pink fairy costume, some creepy goth kid comin outta the shadows, words etched in a wall, waterfalls and flowers.....wtf? all the scenes are sad or romantic in some way. miracles and animals kills each other, sad children and sex scenes we don't need to see. it all looks to be saying that she was his childhood friend, then they started dating, she turned out to be evil, maybe cheated on him, now his pissed and sad. very pissed. well i hope they are getting the best of this girl, cuz it looks like the best is evilness. is that a word? yeh, sure. anyway. a great video, even though im not sure what they're really going for with it. still totally worth watching.

enter Dave and his powerful voice. then drums, and bass, and guitar and we're off. the setting is some kind of warehouse they did up with shinny white floors, neon lights, a giant red shinny wall for no reason and speakers. and here comes the swat team.....? or at lest one dude from the swat team. and he plans to take on all of the Foo guys? him and what...army? ah. and they appear. i love this song. fun, but angry. here he's trying to say that he's not like what everyone believes him to be. he's not gonna do what they did (who ever this "they" are). and then the red wall blows up! red water rushes over the guys and the swat team as they try to charge at the Foo Fighters. i love the angles as the guys play in the down pour. its really nicely done and would be even cooler in person, like one of their concerts. i'd love to see that happen. then he falls, but only after the singing is done. and the hero rises. :p all in all a nice solid 5 out of 5.

this song has become one of my new favs of 2011. i totally love the foo fighters. their look is laid back and fun. the sound is up-beat rock with a comical twist. the song "Rope" is hard to find the meaning of. did he fall and needs help back up? are they trying to get to a higher place, like a state of mind? hell if i or anyone knows. but the point is that this song is fun. it has a great beat that you can rock out to in the car to. anyone can sing along to a foo fighter's song. the video starts in a bright white box as the guys play the song like they're in the studio. Dave Grohl is still rocking the bread and long dirty hair every rocker should have. unless he's Bono or Lars, then short hair is the best thing for you. half way throw, the guys become nothing more than just black silhouettes against the bright white walls. then suddenly with the guitar solo, we get a blast of green and yellow dancing everywhere. "flashing lights, lights, lights" then red and orange kick in with blue strobbing. a fun trip with lots of sound and color mixed in. looking forward to their album.

all dirty jokes aside, this is a great song off of the Ten album. one of my all time favs. the music video is nicely done. set up as one of their concerts, you get to feel like you where really there. and i enjoy the fact that we get to see some of the guys running round with out shirts. the leap off the balcony was epic. its hard to tell what the songs message is from the video, but im not sure thats important. if you haven't seen "Even Flow" yet, you need to. great song, amazing vocals, funny stage antics. all good. all put a smile on my face. which is not that easy, ill tell ya.

On The Life Of Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix was born Johnny Allen Hendrix on November 27th, 1942 in Seattle, WA. He was the first of five children born to James Allen “Al” Hendrix and Lucille Jeter. Hendrix’s father was a soldier in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. At the age of two his mom placed him in the care of friends in Berkeley. His father was given an honorable discharge from the Army on September 1st, 1945. After which he went to get back Jimi.
Jimi had two brothers, Leon and Joseph and two sisters, Kathy and Pamela. Joseph had physical difficulties and was given to foster care at the young age of three. Both of his sisters where also placed in foster care. Kathy was born blind, while Pamela had lesser physical disabilities.
On December 17th, 1951, Hendrix’s parents divorced. Hendrix was only nine years old. About seven years after the divorce, his mother developed cirrhosis of the liver and died on February 2nd, 1958. He was place in the care of his grandmother who lived in Vancouver, British Columbia, while his brother Leon was placed in foster care. As a child and teen, Hendrix was a shy and sensitive boy. He was greatly affected by the poverty and family trouble that he grew up with.
The high school Hendrix went to was strange for its era. The high school was integrated. Hendrix got his first guitar at the age of fifteen. He bough it from a friend of his father for five dollars. Before he had imagined that the broom was a guitar. He also played on a ukulele that his father had found for him while cleaning up a garage.
Jimi mostly taught himself how to play guitar by watching others play. He also gained tips from others who’d been playing longer than him. Listening to records helped him as well. It wasn’t till mid-1959 that his father bought him his first electric guitar, a white Supro Ozark. Though there was no amplifier available at the time. Hendrix went on to play in a few local bands.

Elvis Presley was a musician Hendrix was fond of. Though his early contact with blues music came in the form of Muddy Waters and B.B. King records owned by his father. The 1954 film, Johnny Guitar is also believed to be another influence on Hendrix’s style.
Hendrix’s first show was in the basement of a synagogue, Seattle’s Temple De Hirsh with an untitled group. Jimi was fired from the group after playing wildly and trying to show off. The Velvetones were the first official band Hendrix played in. They performed with Yesler Terrance Neighborhood House on a regular bases, but without pay. Hendrix then went on to play with Rocking Kings, who played places like Birdland.
After he left his guitar backstage over night and it was stolen, his father replaced it with a white Silvertone Danelectro. He then painted it red and printed the name of his high school girlfriend, Betty Jean, on it. While he did complete junior high, Hendrix didn’t graduate from Garfield High School. Jimi was later presented with an honorary diploma. No one is sure weather it is as Hendrix claims that they kicked him out for holding the hand of his white girlfriend or if it was due to poor grades.
After getting caught in stolen cars twice, Hendrix was given two choices by the law, one, spend two years in jail or two, join the Army. He chose the Army and joined May 31, 1961. He completed basic training and was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. Hendrix was placed in Fort Campbell in Kentucky. He wasn’t the best solider as he mostly slept on duty, cared little for the rules, needed to be watched like a child, and had no clear ability as a marksmen. His commanding officers wished for him to be discharged and Hendrix was quick to jump at the opportunity. Jimi met Billy Cox, who played bass guitar at the base’s recreation center. The two became fast friends.
Once discharged from the Army, Hendrix and Cox moved to Clarksville in Tennessee. Beforehand, Jimi had seen how Butch Snipes could play guitar with his teeth , now Alphonso “Baby Boo” Young, the other guitarist in the band, was using the same technique. He would not be shown up.They didn’t play any big gigs. They soon moved back to Nashville’s Jefferson Street, also known as the heart of the black community and rhythm and blues scenes.
Early in 1963, Hendrix returned to the South. Where he would be for the next two years, making a living off of performing for black audiences. All of these places where associated with the Theater Owners’ Booking Association, also called “Tough On Black Asses” due to the fact that the crowds where challenging. TOBA was widely known as the Chitlin’ Circuit. Hendrix performed not only with his own band, but others such as Bob Fisher and the Bonnevilles, back up for Harpo, Tommy Tucker, Sam Cooke, and Jackie Wilson. It was within this circuit that Hendrix truly refined his own style.
Soon Hendrix felt he had artistically outgrown the TOBA and was tried of playing by the rules of bandleaders. He moved up to New York City, into the Hotel Theresa in Harlem in January of 1964. There he befriended Lithofayne Pridgeno, also known as Faye, who later became his girlfriend. He also met the Allen Twines, Arthur and Albert. The Twines managed to keep Hendrix out of trouble.
The Twins also where the back up vocals on some of his records, going by the name of the Ghetto Fighters. They’re most well known work was on the song “Freedom”. Pridgeon knew Harlem like the back of her own hand and helped Jimi with shelter, support, and encouragement. Hendrix won the first prize in the Apollo Theater amateur contest in February of 1964. In hopes of getting a gig, he made the club circuit and sat in with a number of bands. Soon after, Hendrix was offered to be the guitarist in the band, The Isley Brothers’ back up band. He’s first real recording happened on March in 1964 on which day Jimi and the Isley Brothers recorded the two-part single “Testify”. They then went on tour.
It wasn’t till June of 1964 that “Testify” was released, though it did not have a true impact on the charts. Hendrix, before long, became very disgruntled with the band and left them in Nashville. Not long after, he found a job touring with MC Gorgeous George Odell. Hendrix begin performing with Little Richard under the name Maurice James on March 1, 1964. He would later be quoted saying, “I want to do with my guitar what Little Richard does with his voice.”
While stopping in L.A. during a tour with Little Richard, Hendrix played with Rosa Lee Brooks on her single “My Diary”, making for his first recording with Arthur Lee of the band Love. He was also able to play for Little Richard’s final single for Vee-Jay, “I don’t know what you’ve got , but its got me” . He then had his first recorded TV appearance with The Royal Company, backing up Buddy and Stacy on “Stogun” on Nashville’s Night Train on Channel 5. Hendrix fought with Richard over lateness, outfits, and most importantly, how Jimi acted on stage. Months later, he left Little Richard.
Hendrix then got back with the Isley Brothers in the summer of 1965. Together they recorded a second single, “Move over and let me dance” backed with “Have you ever been disappointed”. In 1965, he went on to join a New York based R&B band, Curtis Knight and the Squires. After having met Knight in the lobby of Hotel America on Times Square, where they were both residing. He went on to play with the Squires on and off again for about eight months. With Hendrix, the Squires recorded the single, “How would you feel” in October of 1965. Then on October 15th he signed a recording contract with Ed Chalpin. While he and Chalpin never stayed close, the contract stayed intact for the full three years. This caused issues for Hendrix’s career later on. He also toured with Joey Dee and the Starliters on the side.
Hendrix and Curtis Knight recorded the two-part single “Help me (get the feeling)” with Ray Sharpe and the King Curtis Orchestra in 1966. Later on in 1966, Hendrix also recorded with Lonnie Youngblood, a saxophone player, who’d preformed with Curtis Knight before hand. Youngblood got two singles out of the sessions, “Go go shoes”/”Go go place” and “Soul food (that’s what I like)”/”Goodbye Bessie mae”.Around 1966, Hendrix got his first composer credits for two instrumentals “Hornets nest” and “Knock yourself out”, these where released as a Curtis Knight and the Squires singles.
Under the name Jimmy James, Hendrix formed his own band, The Blue Flame in June of 1966. The members where Randy Palmer on bass, Danny Casey on drums, 15-year-old Randy Wolfe on slide and rhythm guitar, with the occasional stand in. Due to the fact that there where two members named Randy, Hendrix called Wolfe “Randy California” and Palmer “Randy Texas”. Randy California would go on to start the band Spirit with his stepfather and drummer, Ed Cassidy. During this time, Tamika, Hendrix’s only daughter was conceived with Diane Carpenter, who was a teenage runaway and prostitute that he stayed with for a short time. This claim has not been recognized in the U.S. courts.
Hendrix and his new crew played several gigs in New York, though their main venue was at the Café Wha? on MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village. Though their last concerts were at Café au Go Go, backing up for John Hammond Jr, under the title “The Blue Flame”.
Linda Keith, then girlfriend of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, befriended and introduced Hendrix to the Stones’ manger Andrew Loog Oldham, then later to producer Seymour Stein. Though neither of men appreciated Hendrix’s style. He was then referred to Chas Chandler, who was ending his term as bassist for The Animals and looking for talent to mange/produce. Chandler enjoyed the song “Hey Joe” and was certain he could make a hit single with the right artist.
Wowed by Hendrix’s idea, Chandler took Hendrix to London where he was signed to a management/production contract with himself and ex-Animal manager Michael Jeffery. It is noted that Chandler came up with the idea of changing the spelling of “Jimmy” to “Jimi”. He then assisted Hendrix with forming a new band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience. This group was made up of guitarist-turned-bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell, both of whom where English musicians.
Beforehand, Hendrix had been introduced to Pete Townshed and to Eric Clapton, who had just formed Cream. Hendrix was to join them on stage for the song “Killing Floor” at Chandler’s asking. Hendrix and Clapton continued to stay friends up till Hendrix’s death. He began a relationship with Kathy Etchingham the first night he was in London. They only lasted till February of 1969. She would later write an autobiography about their relationship and the sixties scene in London.
Jimi Hendrix tended to have a campy kind of humor, specifically with the song “Purple Haze”. In the song is a line that goes, “Scuse me while I kiss the sky”. It was misheard as “Scuse me while I kiss this guy”. In a number of shows, Hendrix deliberately sang “kiss this guy” while pointing at Mitch or Noel. Though in the Woodstock DVD, he points at the sky during this line in order to make it clear what he means.
After playing the Olympia theatre in Paris on the Johnny Hallyday tour, a showcase gig at the newly opened nightclub, Bag O’Nails and appearances on top UK TV shows “Ready, Set, Go!” and BBC’s “Top of the Pops”, Hendrix’s name spread like wildfire about London. With his showmanship, Hendrix “stole” the fans of guitar legends, such as Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. He was then signed by the Who’s manger to their new record label, Track Records.
Hendrix’s cover of the song “Hey Joe” was his first single. He chose the arrangement done by Tim Rose which was slower and included a female backing the chorus. Following this song was Hendrix’s first self-written song, “Stone Free”. Success came in the form of “Purple Haze” and “The Wind Cries Mary” early in 1967. The song, “Purple Haze” featured the so-called “Hendrix cord”. All three topped the U.K. Top 10 charts and found international popularity.
In 1968, Hendrix and Jeffery came together to buy the Generation Club in Greenwich Village. Their original ideas where to reopen the club were disregarded when they decided that it would make a far better recording studio. The fees for the studio, named the Electric Ladyland were enormous, leaving Hendrix constantly in search of a recording environment that worked for him. It wasn’t till August of 1970 that Electric Lady Studios was open to New York.

The studio was made personally for Hendrix. It had rounded windows and a machine capable of producing ambient lighting in a multitude of colors. The studio was created to have a claming feeling to encourage his creativity, while still having a professional recording atmosphere. Eddie Kramer, the engineer, endorsed this by making it a drug free zone during sessions.
Hendrix died on September 18th, 1970 in London. He had previously spent the night at a party and was picked up by Monika Dannemann. She drove him to her flat at the Samarkand Hotel. Concluding from the autopsy and accounts from friends at the party on the 17th, Hendrix died a few hours after midnight.
In Dannemann’s testimony, she said that after arriving at her house, Jimi had, unbeknownst to her, taking nine of her Vesparax sleeping pills. Hendrix was unfamiliar with the strong German band and had not known that the typical medical dose was half a tablet. According to the doctor who initially attended to Hendrix, surgeon John Bannister, Hendrix had choked on his own vomit, mostly red wine which had sealed his lungs.
Years after this, Danneman claimed that road managers, Gerry Srickels and Eric Barrett had been there before the ambulance was called and had removed some of Hendrix’s things. Succeeding a libel case carried on in 1996 by Hendrix’s long-term English girlfriend Kathy Etchingham, Monika Dannemann killed herself.

On Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher"

“Hot for Teacher” is a laugh out loud kind of music video, in a good way though. The guys from Van Halen try to act like they know how to dance, but I mean come on. Dancing is not what they got famous for. On a positive note, the video plays like a short film about the members of Van Halen and a nerdy boy by the name of Waldo in middle school. It’s the first day of school and they have, well a pretty hot teacher. Mostly the teacher just takes off clothes and dances around in a tiny bikini. It’s everybody’s dream to see their teacher do that, right? No? Anyway, the end of the video was probably my favorite part. They showed clips of each boy as adults with pretty entertaining captions under each. Some went on to do good. Others got locked up. Either way, one of Van Halen’s best videos and songs. Fun, flirty, and down right well stupid.

this is a very nicely done rap video. it has tasts and class, not alcohol and naked girls. Khalil really can dance unlike some talents coming out now. the whole video he's trying to win over the heart of a very cute girl. the most interesting thing about her is the fact that her pants blend into the background. was this on purpose or just a bad edit job? my favorite scene is went the music slowed to background noise and we can hear him breathing as he tries to get the basket and the girl. everything is back and white except for the rim and his jersey. i'm also totally in love with Lil Twist's voice. it's cute, fun, and completly works for him. with geek-chic and super cool moves, this due is gonna go pretty far.

On a Newish Screamo Band

this is by far my favorite screamo band. the imagery is dark,the vocals deep and powerfull. if your an anger and dark lil teen, then the Black Veil Brides are the band for you.

thier name was originally Biersack when they began in 2006. the line up was Andy Six on Vocals, Johny Herold on guitar, and Phil Cenedella on bass. BVB came from Delhi, Ohio. it wasn't untill a year or so that they started up demo songs up on their myspace page.
Six, Cendelle, and Herold later got together with guitarist Nate Shipp and drummer Chris "Craven" Riesenberg. together, the five of them formed the Black Veil Brides. in 2007, they won second place in the Cincinnati "battle of the bands". in 2009, they where signed on to Standby Records. their first tour was in the December of 2009. it was titled, "On Leather Wings".
"We Stitch These Wounds" was their first album. it came out on July 20th of 2010. it sold nearly 11,000 copies the first week of sales. the current line up is Christian "CC" Coma on drums (2010-now), Jinxx on lead/ rhythm guitar and violin(2009-now), Jake Pitts on lead/rhythm guitar and backup vocals (2009-now), Ashley Purdy on bass guitar and back up vocals (2009-now), and Andrew Biersack "Andy Six" on lead vocals, piano, and keyboards (2006-now).

if your looking for a new band, then check these guys out. "Knives and pens" is by far their best song with "Perfect Weapon" and "Sweet Blasphemy" both ranking in a close second.

On a Very Important Issue

as a fan of many controversy artist, such as Marilyn Manson, Eminem, B.I.G, Alice Cooper and so on, i feel strongly about the fact that some people would like to make them into evil figures. people like the media, religious figures, and conservatives. they make others believe that these people are evil and are not human, like them. they tell people that they are the cause for things like Colubimn, suicide, murders, and so on. now, i might sound biest when i say that none of these "dangurous" musicians cause anything the media or anyone says. but the truth of the matter is they really don't. i've spent a great deal of time playing over and over my fav heavy metal songs till the CD gives out.

though i've never once wanted to worship satan, kill people, ect. i've also been a huge fan of rap since i was young, artist like Em, Snoop, and 2pac have been a big part of my life. and yet i've never once wanted to buy a gun and use it on people. i've never wanted to do drugs either. so, to all the haters, why is it that i don't fit your so called statics? why don't i act like the teens you claim act out due to this music. i believe music is made from emotions for people to get out these feelings in a positive way.

its also for the fans to get out wants bothering them in their lives. music can make you feel thinks, anger, saddness, happiness. but it cant control, if it could, thered be a hell of a lot more shit happening. there would be more teens killing people, buying guns, doing drugs. i mean, its true that there are teens that do these things, but they are few. people that are out killing others have mental issues, not the wrong tast in music. the music and the artists are not the ones who committ these crimes, its the truly distrubed teens that need help.

On the History of Billy Corgan

born William Patrick "Billy" Corgan, Jr. on March 17th, 1967. Billy Corgan is most famously known as the frontman for the popular alt. rock band, The Smashing Pumpkins. he is also a songwriter and a poet.

Billy is the oldest child of William Sr., a blues guitarist and Martha Corgan. after having their second son, Ricky, the couple split up in 1970. Billy was only three years old. Billy and his brother went to live with their remarried father in Glendale Heights, IL. during his time there, Corgan suffered metal and physical abuse by his stepmother. then in 1976, his father and stepmother had Billy's half-brother, Jesse. Jesse was born with Cerebral Palsy, Tourette Syndrome, and other mental disorders. Corgan spent most of his time caring for and defending him.

in elementary school, Billy was super athletic. he played on the baseball team, as well as collected baseball cards. in high school, Billy stopped playing sports and focused more on music. some of the bands he liked were Black Sabbath, Queen, Rush, Cheap Trick, Bauhaus, and The Cure. he was offered many scholarships for collage, but refused. he chose to pursue music full-time.

Corgan met guitarist James Iha while working in a record store. the two soon began recording demos together. Billy later described them as "doomy little goth-pop demos".

he later met the would-be bassist, D'arcy Wretzky after a local show. they were arguing about the band that had just played. soon after meting D'arcy, The Smashing Pumpkins were formed. they started out with a drum machine before getting drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Jimmy was recruited to get a show at the Metro in Chicago. in 2000, they broke up.

in blog posts on Myspace and his own site, he blamed Iha for the bands break up. in 2004, he went on to have a solo career. it wasn't till 2005 that Billy wrote the Chicago Tribune and Sun-times about wanting the band to get back together. a few days later, Jimmy Chamberlin took Billy up on his offer.

April 20th, 2006, The Smashing Pumpkins official reunited. with new members Ginger Pooley and Jeff Schroeder, The Smashing Pumpkins went back to the studio to record the album, Zeityeist.

Corgan struggled most of his life with depression. he endured bouts of self-injury, obsessive-compulsive disorder and suicidal thoughts( his song "Today" is about a time he tried to kill himself, but thought against it. he said the song was about how today was a good day to live, because he didn't die.). his mother died Dec. 1996. the song "For Martha" from the 'Adore' album is about her. he later named his music lable Martha's Music. in 1993 he married his girlfriend, Chris Fabian. they spilt sometime in 1996, then later divorced in 1997. in 1995 he started dating photographer Yelena Yemchuk. the song "Stand inside your love" is about her. he is currently not dating and is still working on songs with the latest line up for The Smashing Pumpkins.

Mike Starr (1966-2011)

as a long time Alice in Chains fan, i personally miss Mike Starr. Mike was the bassist for Alice in Chains. he passed away on March 8th of this year at the age of 44. in my book, 44 is far too young to die, but for many celbs, this is old. the cause of Mike's death is unknown as of yet, but it is noted that he was busted with a controlled substance last month in Salt Lake City. it is known that up till Starr's death, he struggled with his feelings of regret and guilt over the death of his friend and Alice in Chains bandmate, Layne Staley who died April 5th, 2002. it will be hard for Alice in Chains' remaining members to go on, and like with Slipknot who just last year lost their bassist, Paul Gray, we can expect a break from the band. it will be sad if they chose to never get back together, but it will definitely be understandable.

American Idol has some pretty crazy moments during tryouts. its part of the reason i watch Idol. but i also like watching the bad singers. its pretty funny. if you haven't seen it, then you should go check it out. RIGHT. NOW. but i have to say, this is my favorite moment.

here we got this body trainer. he's got a well toned bod, abs, six pac, the works. and what does he do when he gets on American Idol? why, he takes his shirt off. so then Steven and Randy decide to join in his shirtlessness. back in his day, Steven was good looking without his shirt on.......but now....he's well old...and not as toned or good looking. and Randy......he's a lil chubby, but still cute you know. still. standing next to this body builder, they dont look so hot. though, maybe if they were standing alone without shirts, they'd look fine......still, lets keep our clothes on, boys.

so i was watching a Hawthorne Heights music vid on Yahoo when i saw a clip from the music vid for Hell Yeah's newest song "Better Man". in the clip was Chad, and i saw in that scene he looked just like Snape from Harry Potter (lol)!! so i watched it. thats when i discovered his super funny face fur! some how someone with Snape-ish features and hair shouldn't have face fur of any kind. take Trent Reznor for example. man, he looks just the dude who plays Snape! no joke. take a look.

pop music has evolved over time. some would say its gotten better. i would say its all turned to electronic shit. but this isn't about shitty music. this is about my top ten best pop artists. (now in color)

10)T.L.C- this great 90's all female group topped the charts with songs like "Waterfalls" and "No Scrubs". i believe they would have made it out of the 90's and onto charts in the 2000's if it had not been for the death of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. Left Eye will surly be missed.

9)Coldplay- fun and upbeat, but at the same time very sad and thoughtful. Coldplay is one of those unrated bands. many think they weren't good at their peck even. but Coldplay has continued to put out great songs.

8)Backstreet Boys- who doesn't like 90's pretty boys singing cutesy songs about teenage love? you don't? well then fuck you!. the Backstreet Boys were a great boy band and if they had a come back today, you can bet your ass everyone and their mom would be there in a heart beat!

7)Katy Perry- yes, there is SOME good pop music in the 2000's! thank God for Katy Perry. cute, up beat, and just plain crazy fun. you just gotta love her. its like not loving puppies or Rob Halford! you have to be insane.

6)Destiny's Child- of course they have to be on here! they gave us Beyonce! sassy, hot and loaded with amazing vocals, their were one of the best pop groups of the 90's. i think i speak for everyone when i say, its ok they're not together anymore. Beyonce's still big (and sexy).

5)Justin Timberlake- first in the Micky Mouse Club house with Britney and Christina, then 'N Sync, Justin is just about everywhere. his whinny vocals pushed him to the front. now with his own solo career and songs like "Cry me a river" and "Sexy back", i don't think he needs Micky or the rest of the guys. i mean, he sang with Madonna!!

4)B.O.B- another great star from the 2000's! this boy has a way with words and if u'll allow me this moment to talk like a teen, he's pretty fly. it took him awhile to get discovered, but hell if we're not happy for it!

3) All Star Weekend- not a whole lot know about these cute guys. their mostly know due to Disney Channel. (rrrgg. Disney...) but despite this slight fall back, their still all in all a really good band.

2) Drake Bell- he started out on the what was once popular Nick show Drake and Josh, Drake Bell is one of the few very talented teen stars out there. he can play guitar and sing and he's cute, its a win, win, win!

1)Britney Spears- she had to be here and you know it! from the Micky Mouse Clubhouse to "Baby hit me one more time" to a shaved head to now. its been a wild and crazy and drug filled trip, but i know that you where right there watching the whole thing go down. some were rutting for her, some were bashing her, but in the end Brit came out on top with her new CD "Femme Fatale". you just cant keep her down. thank God for that.

a gothic Cinderella?

so everyone remembers that short lived emo band that was played on the radio pop stations fifty million times a day back in the mid-2000's? fallout boy? well i bet you remember their bass player. cute, emo, and well just plain hot, Pete Wentz was the fav of the group by far(even though it was Patrick Stump who had those amazing vocals and is pretty cute himself, ya know). so, Pete started out with a pretty sweet emo flop. then Ashely came into the picture and they got married and this happened.

he got a beard. WFT!? i thought it was the worst look he could or would ever have.....but no. he went and proved me wrong. he and Ashley got a divorce and now, in 2011 he's single. hurray for all the girls who love him. but the issue is....now he has this....

AN AFRO?!!! REALLY!? Pete, please listen to me.....GET RID OF IT! i say you just go back to your emo flop, its what we all feel in love with. just get rid of the fur ball on your head. Bronx is embarrassed to be seen with you. its in his eyes. if not for the girls, do it for the love of your son!!!!

Eminem and Marilyn Manson- "The way I am"

i love bout Manson and Eminem, so the minuet i learned that they did a song together i was all over it. i hit up youtube and google looking for it. and now i've seen the official music, the interview, and both live shows far too many times to count. "The way i am" is a great and powerful song that came out at just the right time for both men. Eminem has been hasled over he's racy lyrics and for "acting black". while Manson was getting killed about Columbine, because everyone thought he made the kids do it. the song is almost a plea for everyone to fuck off their cases. i love the way the music video shows how no one knows how to leave Em be. people rush up to him when he's out to eat with his wife and kid. they stand outside the bathroom stales waiting for pictures and autographs. its funny, but at the same time you can see why he's getting so pissed off at them. would you really want people stalking you very minuet of your life? but my favorite part is when Em is standing in this dark, one windowed room and slowly, out of the dark comes Manson wearing nothing but black leather pants and paint. i'd be a little freaked if Manson just appeared like that behind me. though this scene has nothing on Manson's "dancing" on stage with Em. in the first live video i saw, Manson had on a tee, dress pants, and his trademark, does-anyone-really-need-to-be-this-tall-? combat boots. once more, he came out of the dark behind Em. while Em went on rapping, Manson thought he'd play "follow the leader". he tagged behind Em all over the stage and stuck one arm out in front and bounced up and down. then when Em put a foot up on the speaker and leaned in close to the crowd, Manson did so too, only looking completely silly. for the live show from Germany, Manson, once again, didn't have a shirt on. this time Manson entered the stag from a castle tower in the background. in this one i could clearly hear Manson singing. Em also stopped and few times on the lyrics to let Manson be heard better. no matter which version of the video you see, its bound to be great. Manson will look like a silly little white boy and Eminem will looked pissed as always. as for the song it's self. its a great song with well chosen lyrics and a perfect beat. out of all the lines, my favorite is "i'll smile in the courtroom and buy you a wardrobe." another well worded line from Em about how people find any reason to sue musicians like him and Manson. now you all better go check it out now. and buy the song.

A reveiw of Breathe Carolina's Hello Fascination

starting out on the scene of a cute blond walking into what looks to be a warehouse, we're sent on a trip of color and amazing vocals. the beat is up and fun as with most any Breathe Carolina song. its the kind of song you can see little emo kids dancing to at a club, but others can easily get into as well. i love listening and watching Kyle Even (the tall lit.brown haired guy)sing. he's just one of those people who's voice just doesn't seem right from them. he doesn't look like the type to be doing the screaming in their songs, but he does it so well and its just so much fun to watch him. David Schmitt (the shorter dark brown haired) is our sweet and soft vocals. i love his voice. its calming and beautiful. the combination of both Kyle and David is prefect and amazing. while the music video doesn't really seem to have much going on with the song, i mean rainbows are nice, but what about something like the scissors she cuts you with. all in all, a very nicely done video and totally fun to watch. keep your eyes on Kyle, its a blast.

the super bowl half time show with the Black Eyed Peas

now most everyone in America spent Sunday watching the Super Bowl. its like the most American thing to do. (not) anyway, as every year there was a musical act during haft time. it's always a popular pop band that does a montage of all their best and newest songs. this year was the Black Eyes Peas turn. of course with the help of Slash (from Guns N' Roses, for those who don't know). well i hope you didn't make a bet on this being any good. save your money for betting on the game and other shit. this was not the best performance by the Black Eyed Peas. it started strong with their latest song, "Boom, boom, pop" then in to some more of the classic Black Eyed Peas. then Fergie come out alone with Slash. their song of choice, Guns N' Roses "Sweet Child O' Mine". this song takes a special kind of person to maintain the vocals properly. the notes are not the easiest to reach. now, i don't hate Fergie, i have a couple of her solo songs and some from with the Black Eyed Peas. but she is not made for singing such songs as "Sweet Child O' Mine". they should have chosen a different song that matched Fergie's singing style far better. though this was not the worst. after "Sweet Child O' Mine", the rest of the Black Eyed Peas came back on stage for another one of there newest songs, "Time of my life". a revamped version of the song from the cult classic movie, Dirty Dancing. in my opinion, there are just some songs that one doesn't NOT change no matter what. i dont care how much better you think it will be. some songs don't get better than they already are. i love you, Fergie, but never sing "Sweet Child O' Mine" every again. and to Slash, man what the hell were you thinking!? she's hot, yes, but she can't sing the song right. damn!

review of High end of low (Manson)

so this year for Christmas i asked for the new Manson album, High end of low. the only song i'd heard off of it was arma-goddamn-motherf**kin-geddon. before i say what i think of the album, i want to state that i still love Manson and his older music and am looking forward to the next album from him. now with that said,the album sux...ass. no joke. its all poppy and techno. he has remixes that scream he's been hanging with Lady Gaga way too much. love Gaga and all, but that kinda music is not for Manson. he barely even screams in any of these songs. which makes me sad. while lyrical they are like Manson's other songs, they don't have the same feel with all the techno background shit. there is one up side to this album. in the middle of arma-goddamn-motherf**kin-geddon is an amazing guitar solo. i really hate to say it. but even with that guitar solo i only give the album a 2 1/2. sorry Manson. try sticking to what you know.

on another Rob Zombie music video- "living dead girl"

now here's my fav Zombie music video. how can you not love "living dead girl"? it's got a fun beat, creepy lyrics, and she's just kool looking to begin with. it's hard to tell, even after seeing the music video over and over a million times,just what the living dead girl is. is she a zombie? a vampire? something else?(?!!!!) the basic idea for this video is an old style freak curicus theme. you've got the towns ppl shrieking in terror of this girl. Rob in a top hat, cap, cane, and glasses combo. it's shot in blue, green, and yellow filters to give it that old movie feel even more so. there are also breaks in it were the tell us what the ppl are doing or saying or thinking, with addes to the funny, old movie theme of it all. in the end, the living dead girl was not meant to be part of our world. too bad. i would have loved to be friends with her.

last time i was talking about pet peeves with bands. here's my biggest one, Nickelback. what the hell?! so for like the past few months or years everyone's known Chad Kroeger, the lead singer, is leaving for his own solo career. basically, with out Chad there is no Nickelback. but that's not what i'm worried about. these guys have been trying too hard to keep their nonexistent fanbase. they've tried it all; songs about hookers, drinking songs, wannabe sappy love songs, trying to turn metal. the only thing these guys haven't done is make a country song (thank god!!!!) but really. i hate to see them so down that they have to try to be bands they're not. its just plain pathetic. my advice? just give it up! its over and no one likes your music anyway!! eh. like they care. whatever, thats all i got to say bout em.

a review of a music video: Rob Zombie's Sick Bubblegum

heres a great Zombie song. i love this guy and i cant tell you just how many times of i seen this video. but i learned something recently, i dont always pay much attention to just who is in all the music videos i ingest daily. as i was watching this for the first time in about a month or so, i saw one of my fave guitarist, the one and only John5. i've loved 5 since i first heard him play on the earlier Manson tracks. i of course knew that he was working with Rob Zombie having seen him play, along with Joe Jordison of Slipknot. but to my knowledge he'd just joined before Zombie's tour with Alice Cooper. i was wrong.
in this video it starts with Rob saying, "We all know how we're gonna die, baby. We're all gonna crash and burn.". all of them dressed in a mix between metal head, teenage boys and cowboy. now the John5 im used to wears face paint and black. not some cowboy poncho. set in what looks like it could be someones basement or loge cabin, this doesnt scream Rob Zombie to began with. but then he begins to sing and we all know it has to be Rob, with his consent stream of "yeh"s and "baby"s. you add in the shots of the sexy girl blowing bubbles and the creepy dead animals and it works just fine for the song. though i would have wanted it to be just little more dark and Rob Zombie-ish. the only real problem i have is John5's outfit. other than that, its a good music video and a must see for any true Zombie fan.

Pet Peeve: System of a Down's B.Y.O.B

im sure all of you metal or rock fans may have heard of at one point of the band System of a down. i love these guys. their album Toxicity is one of my favorite CDs. the message in it is clear, the tempo of the songs work, and the vocals are amazing. they were a really great metal band, and then something went terribly wrong. no, im not talking about their break up (though that is still sad). im talking about the a song of theirs they made a lil before splitting. B.Y.O.B. while i do see the political part of the song, there is still something that gets me every time i hear it. this song is way more like that crap on pop radios. the wannabe techno shit that is more computer than a real person with real talent singing or playing. it sounds like they had Jay-Z or someone write it out for em. about 75% of this song is techno club trash, then they have the lil' guy, Daron Malakian screaming a bunch of nonsense. what happened to metal?!! why is metal music now trying to be part of the mainstream? metal is to be loud and heavy and not sound like mainstream shit! this song just makes me so p.o.ed. to go from songs like Chop Suey and Toxicity to this. its really sad. just like Nickelback's career falling in the crapper. anyway, thats all for this one. leave your comments below about how you feel about the song B.Y.O.B or any song from any artist.

heres a cute lil japanese band i luv! LM.C. made up of singer Maya and basest Aji, this dou is really cute, for two thirty year old dudes!! they may look young, but dont be fooled. their songs are fun and up beat. they dress punky but have soft hearts. there really is lil kno bout these guys. but outta all the japanese bands there are id have to say if u want a band thats fun, but serious then these are your guys. the vocals are nice. Maya has a sweet voice thats great to lison to for hours on end. Aji's base is beautiful and sets the whole mood for each song. the talents they call in for drums always seem to fit in fine with the guys. they look and sound are great, but there are acts pouring outta japan i luv more. so ill have to give the guys three;

so heres another artist ive been wanting to share my thoughts on. i luv Eminem. he's my fav rap artist. he speaks right from his heart and has never tried to be anything but himself. his life has been on bad thing then a worse thing and then a horrible thing, but no matter what he keeps on going just like a soldier. for those who are wondering why we teens love him so much, its simple. he gets us. he sings about things we go though and speaks our feelings about them. there arent many artist who do this anymore. with grunge and Nirvana fading away from us, we have to find new artist and music to speak to us. he many not be the best rapper, but he is good at what he does. thats why im giving Eminem 4 out of 5 notes.

clash! 80's metal vs. 90's metal

alright. here's the first clash. 80's metal vs. 90's metal. now im going to give my ideas on both 80's and 90's metal, then you get to your ideas on them and then ill post the winner.

80's metal-
so here's what needs to be said about the metal coming outta the 80's, it was all chick music. now dont get me wrong here, im a girl and i love motle crue and poison, but can we really call this metal? it was hard and edgy and talked about sex, drugs, and murder. but rock talks bout this kinda stuff too. now was this really metal or just over'll glammed rock? as hot as they were and as loud as they were, i dont really know if we can consiter them metal.

90's metal-
90's. what a great time. Nirvana and non-crazy Britteny Spears. this was the time when Metalica was going strong. thrash metal was taking over; Korn, Metalica, then came grung; Alice in chains, Nirvana. they were loud, crazy, dark, and creepy all things metal is made of. if you wanted something to bang your head to, these were the artist for you. this was only the start of metal becoming harder and louder. before it had been closer to rock, but now it was more mascaline.

BAND REVIEWS: Marilyn Manson

first off, i want to explain my rating system. simply i just use music notes (OMGOTH!!!! NO WAY!!) as if u didn't c that coming. still here's how it breaks down:
one= poor
two= okay
three=worth hearing
four= get a few songs
five= "God(s)(dess(es))"
and thats how it kinda works. so here's (my Lord) Mr. Manson's review:

this band has been around since the mid 80's and have been going strong. while most of their fan-base has grown up and probably moved on from Manson, but there has been an ever changing and growing group of fans. their sound is a bit like thee Alice Cooper with a mix of sex, drugs, and Halloween fun. no matter what the song, Tainted Love, This is Halloween, or The Beautiful People he always has to git in his infamous scream. their live performances are over the top and insane. while the band is always quoted as being "gothic" this is not true in the lest bit and it pisses me off to here this, so all of u who think the band or Manson himself is "gothic" hear what i say next: the band-Marilyn Manson is NOT gothic, but they are SHOCK ROCK. (now shock rock is a branch of metal, think of Alice Cooper) if u haven't guessed yet, i like Manson. but there are some who would say the band has become a bunch of sell outs. to some their new CD, The High End of a Low, is more cermercial than what it used to be, i c this CD as their last 'Hurrah' as a band as soon Mr. Manson will be focusing mostly on his art career. Twiggy will more than likely continue on with his musical career, as will Chris Vrenna. as for the others, time will tell. now the rating. this is purely my opinion:

My Top 10 Metal Bands

i love this genera of music the most. you feel impowered by hearing it. the vocal work is amazing as well. how in music's name can someone do that with their voice!!?

Top 10 Metal Bands:

1- Slayer (one of the first and best. if ur a true metalhead, then u have to love em!! its just the law)

2- Megadeth (while newer to the scene, they're still a great metal band)

3- Mork Btyning (their sound is the purest metal, loud and hard to understand, but hey that why we love metal, right?!)

4- Ozzy Osbourne(how can we deny the Prince of Darkness! his crazy on and off stage behavior has made us worry, and his songs have inspired us!)

5- Ritual Carnage (deep into the black metal scene we go, crazy loud and obscene lyrics pull us in farther.)

6- Emperor (these stupid crazy bastards may burn crosses and churches, they still know how to make the best black metal music out there!!)

7- Judas Priest (i love, love, love these guys. Rob Halford has the best vocals in the metal scene [well other than Mr. Dio]. their look is amazing and bad-ass. great band worth hearing over and over again.)

8- Seether (my curtain obsession. their look and sound is amazing and pure.)

9- Korn ( another one of my obsessions. with their vocals and unique look its no wonder how popular they are. though i have not been able to go to a concert yet, i still cant help being in love with they're amazing thrash style.)

10- Iron Maiden (its always best to finish strong and who's stronger than Maiden?! their lyrics, look, and pure metal style one can not deny the awesome pull of Maiden. but this list is my current favs and only the ones i could think of off the top of my head. that's why its a 'Top 10' and not a best of list or something.)

like i said above, this is a 'Top 10' list not a best of list. i will be doing some 'Clash' pages which are two bands, CDs, artists, or genera of music go head to head. i'll basically give the pro's and con's of both and then have u guys give ur opinions and then a winner will be chosen.
